Sanctimony: 01</u>

In the chambers there was a certain uneasiness to be felt, for it was a rare occurrence for Lucipher to be present during the Council’s debate. What was even more worrisome, the archangel took his appointed place, just next to the Mercy Seat. Eternity passed since anyone sat on one of the two thrones.

Still, Lucipher held the highest rank in the Council. His word could change all if he ever bothered to use this power. This never happened. At least, not until now.

The archangel observed the council members with a viciously unkind smile on his lips. None dared to speak, even after another creature took its stand behind Lucipher.

Astarot’s consort. A Dragon. The only one of the brood that spoke any language at all and behaved with a certain amount of reason. Despicable beast, hidden under the naïve face of teenager and sweet smile. Untouchable. Not many would try to harm a creature Lucipher deemed his own. Even fewer would hurt a creature under Astarot’s protection.

Samael did, and the retribution was swift, carried out by the hand of Astarot himself. Otherwise gentle prince had torn the body of the offender to shreds with his bare hands. Screams lasted for hours.

“I see that we are all gathered,” Lucipher murmured, bowing his head slightly. “This is good indeed. We may begin.”

“After you bring a weapon of war to the chambers, you dare…” One of the angels started to speak but a hand on his arm and a quick shake of the head stopped him. Lucipher glanced at the offender.

“I see that you prefer in your own shallowness to consider Rani a tool, not a thinking and feeling creature that he truly is. In reality, you differ not from him for you’re just a mere instrument of the divine, aren’t you? Or do you think yourself to be more than that?”

None spoke out, for the inevitable conclusion of this exchange would equate them with Lucipher and his actions.

“Good. If we are all beyond the petty squabbles, I have something to say. I don’t expect you to even begin to comprehend what I’m going to let you know. It’s no problem of mine and I’m being merely courteous by informing you all of what is transpiring just right now, before your indolent eyes. It’s no revelation none of you even begun to be aware of anything.”

There was no answer but it was easy to feel the tense atmosphere in the chamber. Listening to Lucipher’s condescending tone was hard for the most.

“My connection to Hell was broken.”

In the silence that descended upon the chamber the clatter of Neariel’s chair hitting the floor was deafening. Second in rank made no secret of his affiliation with the Hell and the now Earth-bound son of Lucipher. He was the only one to understand the full impact of Lucipher’s words.

Lucipher drew a faction of his power from the Hell and the Hell drew its existence from Lucipher. Without him, and without the Regent, it would start to fragment and dissolve, slowly but inevitably, starting with creatures dependent on the connection and ending with a possible rupture to the Creation itself.

Neariel’s eyes wandered to the dragon and then to Azrael, who nodded. The boy, standing next to Lucipher, was already dying. A living proof of the severity of the situation.

“You need not to worry. Yet.” Lucipher stood up turning his back on the council members. “He is safe, for now, but when he awakens, he may very well die.”
Blah, blah, blah~~ I managed to sneak Rani into it, because, frankly, Luce is a bastard. He would take Rani with him as a confirmation of his words for some, and, besides, Rani sometimes actes as a secretary for him. (Or, acted, but that's beside the point xP).

The part about dying isn't about immediate death, but rather about inevitable death. Under present conditions, at least until Luce regains his connection, or the Regent's steps in, Rani is one of the creatures that will die as a result. That's what Azrael sees (or that's how I understand his ability, to see possible and unevitable deaths of all things alive).

Luce's son. Well, Luce's progeny, no matter if he's an angel or not, will still be devillish, and connected to the Hell. When Luce's not in control of Hell, it's the transfer of power that could kill Lavender. (He was known to channel part of Luce's power on several occasions and that never turned well for him.)

The second throne next to the Mercy Seat is for Metatron (I don't like her already xP). And yes, Lucipher is the highest ranking archangel in the heaven. Actually, he was the first, and created by the God himself.

Personally, I don't like Azrael too (because he's a such godmod xP but that's totally imho), but he deserves some screen time and is pretty helpful. I'm just waiting for his creator to finally find an answer to a certain question about the bastard XD~~

Dragons. Dragons are own creation of Lucipher and relay more on him than the Hell, but were interwined with the Hell later as a precaution. Rani is, hm, a 'head' dragon, the one that controls the whole brood. He holds all the 'souls' of other dragons in his being and can extort some form of control over them. And yes, he's the only 'mature' dragon.

Blah, blah, blayh~~
